The practice was set up by Faye Wright and Paul Shelley in 2014. Together the pair have over 50 years of experience in local government town planning and private sector planning consultancy.

Faye set up Forward Planning and Development Limited in 2014 and is the driving force behind the business. She previously spent 14 years working for one of London’s leading West End planning practices before setting up FWP&D.

She specialises in dealing with commercial, residential and mixed-use redevelopments in central London boroughs which include resolving urban design, heritage and land use issues.

Faye has specific experience advising on changes of use from office to residential, development proposals involving listed buildings and Conservation Areas, affordable housing provision and viability issues.

Since 2010 Faye has advised a range of private investor and fund clients on their asset strategies including adding value through gaining permissions for; building extensions, external alterations, refurbishment projects, increasing density and changes of use all for a variety of property types nationally.

Faye speaks near fluent French, enjoys reading and is a keen skier.

Paul Shelley

Paul Shelley – Director

Paul has spent 35 years in public sector planning, latterly at Thurrock Borough Council as Head of Planning & Transportation. More recently he has applied his knowledge to advising clients in the private sector.

He has a wide appreciation of planning issues particularly from a development management perspective and Paul has experience acting as an expert witness and giving evidence at planning inquiries.

Notable projects include overseeing delivery of the Dartford Crossing and Lakeside Shopping Centre.

Paul is a keen cyclist and regularly clock’s up 200 miles a week.

Hannah Farmer – Associate

Hannah has previously spent nine years working for one of London’s leading West End planning practices. She advised Central London Estates and developers on residential, commercial and mixed use development schemes in Central London.

She has considerable experience in advising on complex land use swaps, large scale mixed use regeneration schemes, heritage and conservation issues and estate management.

Hannah enjoys travel, music and playing tennis.

Faye Lord – Associate

Faye graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 2009 before joining leading London planning consultancy practice DP9 and, subsequently, Gerald Eve. Faye has acted for various corporate property owners and asset managers advising on a range of planning matters for predominantly London based mixed use projects. She’s worked for FWPD as an Associate since 2017.
